UAE donates AED 37 million to WHO to fight cholera

The UAE has donated nearly 37 million dirhams to the World Health Organisation, to support efforts in fighting cholera in Yemen.

The announcement was made by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, during a meeting with the Director General of WHO, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus in Marmoum.

Discussions also included the UAE’s efforts to cooperate with the organisation to provide aid to those in need around the world, and Sheikh Mohammed reaffirmed the UAE government’s commitment to provide world class healthcare facilities locally, with specialised medical services and continuing medical and pharmaceutical research.

The Director General praised the UAE for its support in efforts to enhance healthcare services around the globe and fight epidemics.
